In recent weeks, Taiwan has seen a troubling rise in news reports about teenagers becoming involved in fraud and organized crime. As I watched these heartbreaking stories, one question kept coming to my mind:
What if we could help children develop resilience before they face life's greatest pressures and temptations? Would their stories have been different?
For many years, God has led me to serve in the areas of crisis intervention, trauma care, and resilience. Watching the growing needs in Taiwan has reminded me once again that prevention is always better than intervention after the damage has been done.
Perhaps this is one reason God has prepared the Chinese publication of The Resilient Child for such a time as this.
Many of you may already know Dr. George S. Everly through his international work in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and crisis intervention. It has been a tremendous privilege for me to translate his work and introduce his wisdom to Chinese readers.
One of Dr. Everly's most important messages is that resilience is not something children are simply born with—it is a capacity that can be intentionally nurtured through everyday relationships and life experiences. I believe this message is urgently needed by families, schools, churches, and communities throughout Taiwan.
Over the coming months, I will complete the final editing and publication of this book while also writing articles to introduce these life-changing principles to Chinese readers. Please pray that God will use both this book and these writings to equip parents, teachers, pastors, counselors, and helping professionals to strengthen children's resilience before they encounter life's major crises.
Praise Reports
• An article I wrote on recognizing emotional manipulation in romance scams was recently published in one of Taiwan's major newspapers. I received many encouraging responses from readers who said it helped them better recognize unhealthy relationships.
• Another parenting article on helping toddlers develop healthy sleep habits has been accepted for publication. Please pray that God will use it to encourage young families.
• Two support groups beginning in July have enrolled nine and eleven participants respectively, allowing both groups to begin as planned. We thank God for bringing together people who are seeking healing and growth.
• In June, I joined pastors' prayer gatherings in two districts of Taipei. These meetings provided meaningful fellowship and opportunities to introduce the publishing ministry of Lifting Hands Network to church leaders.
Prayer Requests
• On July 6, The Resilient Child will enter the Chinese cover design stage. Please pray for our designer, Stephanie Chiang, asking God to grant her wisdom, creativity, and artistic insight so that every aspect of this book will honor Him.
• Please continue praying as I complete the final editing of the translation. Pray that I will faithfully convey not only Dr. Everly's ideas, but also his warmth, wisdom, and heart, so that the Chinese edition will become a lasting blessing to many readers.
• On July 29, I have been invited to speak at the Christian Fellowship of Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Please pray that God will anoint this message and use it to bring hope and encouragement to those who attend.
• Please pray that God will continue opening doors for Lifting Hands Network to serve schools, businesses, churches, and communities through training, seminars, and educational resources.
• Please also pray that God will use the books and resources we publish to bring healing to broken relationships and help more people experience His love.
Thank you for faithfully standing with us through your prayers, encouragement, and generous support. We are deeply grateful for your partnership in this ministry. May God continue to use us together to bring hope, healing, and resilience to individuals, families, and communities.
