When I was in high school, I read *The Alien Realm* (*Yi Yu*) by Taiwanese writer Bo Yang. The book tells the heartbreaking story of Chinese Nationalist soldiers who, after 1949, became stranded along the borders of Burma, Thailand, Laos, and China. Cut off from their homeland and caught between hostile forces, they struggled to survive in the jungles. Some of their descendants eventually settled in northern Thailand.
I was deeply moved by their story. I remember lying awake that night and praying for them. In the years that followed, whenever I heard about churches sending mission teams to serve these communities in northern Thailand, I was always thankful.
I never imagined that one day I might have the opportunity to go myself.
This June, my dear friend Mina contacted me about visiting Taiwan for a couple of days before joining a mission trip to Thailand. My immediate thought was, *Could they possibly be going to northern Thailand? If so, I wish I could go too.*
In July, I was invited to join the GHFC mission team—and Mina and Fred generously offered to sponsor my entire trip. I was overwhelmed with gratitude and immediately thought of Psalm 139:2:
“You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.”
God knew the desire He had placed in my heart so many years ago.
During the English camp, the students will have practical English classes in the mornings and electives in the afternoons. I will be teaching **Five-Step Fist (Wubuquan)**, a basic form of traditional Chinese martial arts, using simple English. Please pray that God will use every member of our team so that the young people will not only enjoy learning, but also experience the love of Christ through us. Please also pray for the local pastor as he shares the Gospel with the students.
## Praises
I am grateful that two of my recent articles were published in Taiwanese newspapers in August and received encouraging responses. Another article, on helping young children cope with separation anxiety, has also been accepted for publication. I thank God for continuing to open doors for me to bring practical, Christ-centered perspectives on relationships, emotional health, and family life into the wider community.
## Prayer Requests
1. **The Resilient Child** — Please pray for the final proofreading of the Chinese edition. My prayer is that every necessary correction will be made carefully and accurately, and that we may offer this book to God with excellence.
2. **Secrets of Sex and Marriage** — Please pray for the Chinese translation and editing of the first Focus on the Family interview video featuring authors Shaunti and Michael.
3. **Upcoming training programs** — Please pray for our *Grief Recovery Workshop* and *Anxiety Reset* support-group leader training beginning in late November, that God will bring the right participants and allow both programs to begin as planned.
4. **New doors for ministry** — Please pray that God will continue to open opportunities for Lifting Hands Network to serve in schools, businesses, churches, and communities through training and teaching.
5. **Books and resources** — Please pray that God will use the books and resources published by Lifting Hands Network to bring healing to relationships and help more people experience His love in deeper ways.
